The importance of knowing your strategy and purpose as a social enterprise leader

We over complicate things ALL the time.

(I think it must just be in our nature.)

But it really is simple.

Focus on your WHY.

Create a STRATEGY.

IMPELMENT said strategy and stop getting distracted by whatever comes your way.

Busy-ness if not a sign of success.

Working towards and creating the social change or impact...aka the reason you set up this organisation...is!

So let's focus on it more. Daily. Make it happen.

Measure it. Demonstrate it. Communicate it and success will happen. Its inevitable.

When you do what you say you set out to do.

When you measure and can demonstrate the change you make (the reason why you exist).

When you share WHY you do this work, people take notice.

People connect with you. They want to find out more. They want to support you or buy from you or fund you.

It really is that simple.

What is it about your WHY and STRATEGY you struggle with?

When you feel there's a hundred and one things to do in your business, overwhelmed and unsure of what to do next go back to your STRATEGY and WHY (aka PURPOSE).

As impact-led, purpose-driven organisations the reason WHY we exist is always what matters most.

It helps guide us and make decisions.

  • Why did you set up your organisation?

  • What's your vision?

  • Whats your mission?

  • What are your goals/objectives this year to working towards your vision?

When we get stuck or feel overwhelmed, or wonder: "Am I doing the right thing?" Ask yourself, is what you're doing connected to your WHY, to why you set up this organisation, to what you're trying to achieve overall (aka your vision)? And if so, is it a priority now?

That's why STRATEGY matters too.

(It doesn't have to be complicated you can have a one page strategy).

Your strategy is simply a plan (for a allocated period of time) that sets out how you'll move closer to your vision and creating the impact/change you were set up to do.

That's why I start here with many clients....getting clear on their why and then creating their strategy for making the impact they want to create.

But a strategy doesn't make anything happen. You have to implement it.

It's there as a guide to help you decide what to do when and next. It includes what resources you need to deliver what you want and a plan for how you will create those.

It's the thing you should look at regularly, which is why a simple one page is often easier to digest regularly.

I've spoken to so many social entrepreneurs these past few weeks who are floundering because they don't have a plan, they're focused on their why and let a culture of "being busy" get in their way of focusing on what really needs to be done.

If you're struggling, feeling overwhelmed and not sure why you're not making progress or don’t know what to focus on I have 3 spots available to work with me 1:1 in my Lead with Impact container for 12 weeks (£4k); 2 spaces to work with me as your coach (£1200) or an opportunity to join me in my new group coaching package at just £75/month.

If you're ready to lead with your why and the impact you want to create. Contact me for more information.
