#70 Understanding and breaking bias as a social impact leader with Rosa Arias-Yague

Biases are explicit and implicit, conscious and unconscious they help our brain make sense of the world however biases around identity can be harmful depending on how we behave as a result of them. In this episode we talk to expert Rosa about how we can learn more and understand our own biases, so we can limit the harm we have.

Rosa is a relentless optimist who still believes we can change the world. She has worked in education for 12 years in Oxford, both as a teacher and as a manager, embedding diversity and inclusion in lessons and supporting teachers in this aim.

Aware that not all children have a positive experience at school and that biases keep impacting working environments, she launched her social enterprise, EGALVIA. She focuses on tackling biases that can lead to racism and gender discrimination. Rosa provides anti-bias workshops and ongoing support within a framework for long-term transformation for charities, purpose-led businesses and companies committed to provide working environments where everyone can thrive.

She has lived in three different countries, brings cultural understanding to her trainings and has worked in marketing, administration and the third sector.

In this episode we discuss:

  • What are biases

Rosa was a member of my Aligned Sales Mastermind from which she was able to set clear income goals, tracking expenses and provide a structure to her offer. As well as identify her USP and recognise the value of her offer and price it accordingly.

She then went on to make her biggest single sale of £2.5k, helping her start the new year well!
